Nairing is a multi medium art gallery. It is a unique concept of integrating fine arts, Literature and performing arts under one roof. The concept was born out of necessity to revive the dying cultural values of the city Lahore. Lahore was famous for its cultural heritage and was known as a centre of intellectual pursuits of lucrative and creative arts. Nairang has managed to involve masters in field of Architecture, fine arts, music Literature and ethnic crafts to organize a collection of all above fields for display and sale. The items range from ancient to the contemporary exposing and promoting not only traditional arts but also to emphasize the growth of contemporary talent of young and budding artists. In the field of paintings, the collection ranges from Shakir and Sadeqain to young graduates. Special stress is on 3 dimensional art expressions such as sculpture, ceramics. Excellent artifacts are collected to bring the richness of art into everyday life. A section of reproductions is developed to make art affordable to the cultivated section of society. Nairangs intends to promote the folk and ethnic arts from remote areas of Pakistan, such a Nooristan, Kafiristan and Interior Sindh. Replicas of such shall be available on affordable prices. The role of creative arts in utilitarian items such as lamps and special furniture is also being considered to involve creative energy into everyday life. The concept is based on revival of our rich creative legacy and to establish a live tradition. Nairang is an attempt to re establish the cost links with our heritage and to move forward and innovate, creating new idioms in art; with a sense of identity. A restaurant and a cafe has been developed as a hang out place for art connoisseurs and artists till midnight. Integrating diverse creative mediums shall hopefully bring about healthy discourse and promote better under appreciation of arts. ![]() |
